Farofa can be made either with manioc or with cornmeal or toast, generally it is prepared in fat or butter, several other ingredients can be added such as bacon, fried sausage, eggs and meat.

It is a very popular dish in Brazil, with its origin recorded in the colonial period. It serves as an accompaniment to roast meat and fish. Being a cheap and easy-to-prepare food, it is very common among workers.

Ingredients

  • 3 spoons of oil
  • 1 cup of cornmeal
  • 1 cup of grated and toasted cassava
  • 1 sausage of your choice cut into squares
  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 small potato cut into small squares
  • 1 small carrot cut into small squares
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
  • 3 boiled eggs cut
  • 1 handful of parsley
  • 1 handful of chives

Method

Step 1

In a frying pan, fry the frankfurters, onion and garlic in the oil.

Step 2

Add the potatoes, carrots cook for about 5 minutes, add salt and pepper.

Step 3

Finally add the eggs, parsley, corn flour and cassava flour, mix well, cook them for another 10 minutes, taste if the salt is okay in case it arrives.
